To dig, the volleyball players must anticipate the spike and be prepared to quickly dive in any direction. Volleyball players with quick contracting muscles are able to move faster, using their strength and flexibility to get low to the ground in order to dig out a hard hit. Volleyball diggers must be able to move laterally, forward, and backward explosively at full range of motion.
Dives Diving consists of staying low to the ground, and gliding through the air to make a play on the ball. Keep your shoulders low As you are about to dive you want to keep your body low to the ground. Keep your body parallel to the floor You shouldn t push up off the ground, but push forward. By pushing forward, you will be better at keeping your body parallel to the ground allowing yourself to slide for a better landing.

Volleyball Skills Digging - Pancake. Pancake is similar than the previous dive, but this time the player dives the ball by keeping one arm straightened out. Since the player suppose to land with other arm straight up front, the player needs to start the dive from the lower position.
